The 5 best / worst football videos of all time

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and with LaDainian Tomlinson’s latest entry into the sing-along world of the Super Bowl Shuffle, nflposts.com lists its 5 favourite/awful videos created by teams and players.

5. LT Style Electric Glide

This straight to YouTube release was actually footage from a scrapped Nike ad that was shot during the summer of 2007. Given LT’s white Don Johnson-like threads, we would have thought 1987. Kitschy disco era graphics and images, “I Read the Defense … Catch that Pass … Wave to your Mom” with accompanying photo, make this an instant classic.

4. The Silver and Black Attack

The Raiders produced this baby - Just Sing, Baby - in 1986, a year after the Bears’ Shuffle. Seeing old flat top Howie Long and Todd Christensen and his mullet rap is one thing, Matt Millen shaking his booty is another. Full marks for team participation.

3. Let’s Ram It

Made the same year as The S&B Attack, Let’s Ram It got high grades for choreography, and variety, it was shot around Anaheim Stadium, as well as its ambitious rap speed. Jackie Slater on the sax while cheerleaders shout “Ram It” puts it a notch above.

2. Fear Da Tiger

Production values get a modern-day upgrade in this 2005 number that features rock and roll hall of famer Bootsy Collins. Slick but could’ve used a few more players. Who dey, who dey, indeed.

1. The Super Bowl Shuffle

The original remains unmatched in terms of success and impact. Profits from the song went to charity and the team is the only one to sing the song and walk the walk. For this, and many other reasons, members of the soon-to-be Super Bowl champs became media icons, especially the “Punky QB known as McMahon,” “Samurai Mike” Singletary and rookie William (The Fridge) Perry, “who may be large but (he’s) no dumb cookie.”
