Recaps: Sunday Bloody Sunday

The early games did not provide too much drama as four of the six games were absolute blowouts, with the QBs leading the charge in most.

Colts 42, Rams 6

Peyton Manning was held under 300 yards passing for the first time this season, but he still managed to throw for three TDs, two in the first quarter, as Indianapolis stayed perfect on the season.

Manning finished 23-34 for just 235 yards, but the Rams provided little competition yet again, and remain winless on the season.

The Colts had their 13-point spread covered by halftime, and then added another 21 points in the second half to roll to the easy cover.

Patriots 35, Buccaneers 7

Tampa Bay travelled all the way to London, looking for their first win of the season, but it will just be a longer plane ride home as the Buccaneers got steamrolled by the Patriots, who easily covered their 14.5 spread.
QB Tom Brady went 23-32 for 308 yards and two TDs, as the Patriots showcased their offensive talents to the fans at Wembley Stadium in this year’s London Bowl.

Chargers 37, Chiefs 7

They say it is tough to win in Kansas City, but no one seemed to mention to San Diego, as the Chargers pummelled the Chiefs 37-7.

The Chargers scored the first 20 points of the game, before Kansas City answered back with their only points of the game – a TD pass from Matt Cassell to Dwayne Bowe.
QB Philip Rivers went a modest 18-30 for 268 yards, but threw three TDs to three different receivers – Malcolm Floyd, Vincent Jackson, and Darren Sproles — as the Bolts easily covered their 4.5 point spread and improved to 3-3 on the season.

Packers, 31, Browns 3

Cleveland got on the scoreboard first on a Billy Cundiff FG at the beginning of the second quarter, but it was all Green Bay after that, as the Packers took over and scored 31 unanswered points to cruise past the Browns and the easy cover. The Packers were favored by 7.

QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 246 yards on 15-20 passing, but managed 3 TDs, and RB Ryan Grant added one TD to go with his 148 yards on the ground.

Texans 24, 49ers 21

It was the story of two different halfs, as Houston rumbled to a 21-0 lead to start the game.

But after SF head coach Mike Singletary replaced QB Shaun Hill at halftime, Alex Smith found the spark as he hooked up with TE Vernon Davis for 3 TDs in the second half.

The Texans had made it a 10-point game about half way through the 4th quarter, which proved to be the difference in the game after Smith and Davis hooked up for their third TD just under four minutes left. That TD also enabled the 49ers to cover the spread, as they were 3.5 point underdogs.

Steelers 27, Vikings 17

In the game of the day, the Steelers handed the Vikings their first loss of the season, using two defensive TDs in the 4th quarter to do so.

With the Vikings driving, Keyaron Fox picked off a Brett Favre pass and returned it 82 yards for a TD with one minute left in the game to ice the win and seal the cover, as they were favored by 4.

Favre threw for 334 yards on 34-51 passing with 1 INT and zero TDs, and while Adrian Peterson did run for a TD, he was held to just 69 yards on 18 carries, the 25th game in a row that the Steelers have held opposing RBs to less than 100 yards.
