Ravens trade for WR Anquan Boldin

The Baltimore Ravens gave their receiving corps a big boost by adding Anquan Boldin, a seven-year veteran who has been at odds with the Arizona front office over his contract seemingly since he burst onto the league.

To get Boldin, the Ravens only had to send third and fourth round picks in the 2010 NFL draft to Cardinals and got a fifth-rounder back.

Part of the deal included a 3-year, $25 million contract extension for Boldin, which pushes the former Card’s contract to 4 years and $28 million, about $1 million less than what he had been seeking and includes $10 million guaranteed.

In Boldin, the Ravens have the No. 1 receiver they have been seeking for years, a big reliable target who’s great after the catch to pair with young QB Joe Flacco.

Despite a high ankle sprain and a hamstring injury, Boldin still managed 84 catches for 1,024 yards and 4 TDs last season. The Florida St. product has 586 catches for 7,520 yards and 44 TDs in his career.

Last month, the receiver-thin Ravens added Donte Stallworth, who had just been reinstated following his DUI/manslaughter conviction in Florida, and were reportedly in talks with free agent WR Kevin Walter when they finalized the deal for Boldin.
