NFL weather forecast Week 13: Saints freezing in Washington

saints-redskinsThe New Orleans Saints have beaten everything that’s come their way this season, now they’ll have to contend with the weather. It’s December and it’s cold, and in Washington on Sunday the temperature will dip below freezing by kickoff (1 p.m. ET, FOX; betting line: Saints -8.5, over/under: 47).

The forecast calls for 41 degrees and sunshine at FedEx Field. The Saints (11-0) will be challenged by a defense that ranks seventh overall and has given fits to several teams, including Dallas and Philadelphia, in recent weeks.

The Redskins (3-8) are suddenly one to beware and if Drew Brees and the Saints can’t adjust to life outside of the Superdome and in the cold, we could see the biggest upset of the season.

However, should New Orleans keep its perfect season intact, it may not play another cold-weather game in the regular season or playoffs. Of the Saints’ remaining games, only one – the season finale at Carolina – will be played outdoors. And if they don’t get homefield throughout the NFC playoffs, then the Minnesota Vikings, who play in the Metrodome, figure to.

And Super Bowl XLIV, should the Saints go that far, will be played in balmy Miami.

Other NFL weather forecasts for Week 13 include:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers (1 p.m., FOX, Panthers -6.5): Partly sunny and 50 degrees with a high probability of a DeAngelo Williams TD.

St. Louis Cardinals at Chicago Bears (1 p.m., FOX, Bears -9): Cloudy and very cold, with a high of 38 degrees expected. That also means lots of Steven Jackson and Matt Forte.

Detroit Lions at Cincinnati Bengals ( 1p.m., FOX, Bengals -13): Partly sunny, 44 degrees and Carson Palmer steady.

Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars (1 p.m., CBS, Jaguars -1): Cloudy with sunny breaks and 61 degrees with periods of Steve Slaton interspersed with Maurice Jones-Drew.

Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs (1 p.m., CBS, Broncos -4.5): Snow flurries and 35 degrees with clouds and swirls of Brandon Marshall.

New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins (1 p.m., CBS, Patriots -6.5): South Beach sunny and 77 degrees with bursts of Tom Brady to Randy Moss expected.

Oakland Raiders at Pittsburgh Steelers (1 p.m., CBS, Steelers -10): Cloudy, gray and 35 degrees, with a blowout by the home team predicted.

San Diego Chargers at Cleveland Browns (4:15 p.m., CBS, Chargers -12.5): Partly sunny and a chilly 35 degrees. Lots of LaDainian Tomlinson in the forecast.

San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks (4:15 p.m., FOX, Seahawks -1): Cloudy and 38 degrees, and a good chance this’ll be a snooze.

Minnesota Vikings at Arizona Cardinals (8:20 p.m., NBC, Vikings -3): Sunny turning to clouds and 61 degrees with a whole lot of bombs from Brett Favre and Kurt Warner.

Baltimore Ravens at Green Bay Packers (Monday, 8:30 p.m., ESPN, Packers -3): Cloudy, 31 degrees and a frozen tundra.

There are also three big games being played in domes or retractable-roof stadiums:

Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts (1 p.m., CBS, Colts -6.5).

Philadelphia Eagles at Atlanta Falcons (1 p.m., FOX, Eagles -2).

New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys (4:15 p.m., FOX, Cowboys -1).
