NFL News, Top PostsBrowns talking with QB Jake Delhomme
It’s often said that when you have two QBs constantly fighting for the No. 1 role, that you have none. New Browns president Mike Holmgren appears to think so.

Two days after releasing Derek Anderson, who took a parting shot at Cleveland fans after he left – and later apologized, the Browns are reportedly in talks with former Panther and free agent QB Jake Delhomme.
Moreover, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Brady Quinn, the erstwhile No. 1, is reportedly on the trade block.
The Cleveland QB carousel started spinning on Monday when Holmgren reached back to his former team and dealt a 2011 seventh-round draft pick to Seattle for backup Seneca Wallace.
A day later, Anderson was released and issued an email rocket to the News-Herald in Willoughby, Oh., that included the following:
“The fans are ruthless and don’t deserve a winner … I will never forget getting cheered when I was injured. I know at times I wasn’t great. I hope and pray I’m playing when my team comes to town and (we) roll them.”
Anderson injured his knee in 2008 and fans were itching to see what Quinn, the hometown backup and future hope could do.
Well, it appears as if Holmgren has seen enough.
Should they land Delhomme, an unnamed source told the Cleveland Plain Dealer that Quinn would welcome a trade if the team isn’t committed to him as the starter.
Delhomme, 35, suffered through a horrible 2009 season and was tearfully released by the Panthers last week, a year after signing him to a 5-year, $42.5 million contract extension.
Delhomme led Carolina to the Super Bowl and 2 NFC title games and could provide veteran leadership for the Browns as a starter or as a backup and mentor to Quinn.
