Oakland @ San Diego -16.5

o/u 41.5

On paper, this seems like a blowout. Oakland is coming off a smackdown at the hands of the Jets last week, while the Chargers zapped the snot out of the Chiefs 37-7. Oakland QB JaMarcus Russell looks like he could not hit water if he fell out of a boat, while San Diego QB Philip Rivers continues to impress, having thrown for 10 TDs, as he leads the No. 4-ranked offense in the league. But this game looked like a blowout on paper in Week 1 also, but Oakland (2-5) managed to outplay San Diego (3-3) for most of the game, until the Chargers scored with 18 seconds left to steal the win. The numbers seem to support taking the Bolts laying those ridiculous points – SD has won 12 straight meetings, the favorite is 10-2 ATS in their last 12, and the Raiders are 2-11 ATS in the last 13 meetings and are 1-5 ATS in their last six trips to San Diego – but 16.5 points is just too big a number to lay with a team as inconsistent as the 3-3 Chargers. Their average margin of victory is 14 points in their three wins, but that is aided greatly by their 30-point victory over KC last week. Take that game out, and their margin of victory is just a mere seven points a game, 10 points away from the cover number in this game. Raiders +16.5
