FeaturesThe Daily Mark Sanchez to Canton Watch: Jaguars on deck
Mark Sanchez returns to work preparing for a Jacksonville Jaguars team that can be deceptive.
The Jaguars rank 26th against the pass, allowing 242.2 yards per game through the air, and are dead last in sacks. But they’ve also been in most of the games they’ve played, except for a 41-0 loss at Seattle and a 31-17 Week 2 setback versus Arizona.
Both the Jets and Jaguars are 4-4, meaning the winner will have own the tiebreaker advantage in the AFC wild-card race. With the conference’s handful of middle-of-the-pack teams looking inconsistent each week, it looks like 9-7 could be the record that gets that final playoff spot.
If Sanchez’s dream of taking his team to the postseason in his rookie year is to come true, then winning this game at home is a must. The Jets are favored by 6.5 against the point spread. Game time is 1 p.m. on CBS.
*The DMSTCW forecasts Mark Sanchez will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2030 after an 18-year career during which he will accumulate: 111,186 passing yards (he was born on November 11, 1986); 6 Super Bowl championships (to go along with his uniform number); $1 billion in endorsements (including several deals involving teeth-whitening products); 11,550 panties (same numbers as the zip code of the Jets’ headquarters in Hempstead, New York, which incidentally, will be renamed Sanchezstead upon his retirement); enough pats on the behind from Fireman Ed to make him feel uncomfortable; and 1 kiss from Suzy Kolber (willingly given).
