The Bengals rookie LB has pleaded not guilty to driving drunk and carelessly.

Rey Maualuga was arrested and charged early Friday morning near Covington,  Ky. Police spokesman Spike Jones said Maualuga hit a parking meter and 2 cars with his 2003 Pontiac, causing minor damage. Covington lies just south of Cincinnati.

Maualuga was a standout LB at USC and was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2009 draft. He started 15 games and compiled 63 tackles, 1 sack and forced 3 fumbles before breaking his left ankle and missing the final game of the season.

Two questions: Spike Jones works for the police? And Rey, time to upgrade the wheels. A 2003 Pontiac?
