Rey Maualuga

The Bengals rookie LB pleaded guilty to drunk driving on Tuesday.

 Rey Maualuga, who was arrested four days ago in Covington, Ky., on charges of drunken and careless driving, received a suspended 7-day jail sentence. His license is suspended for 90 days and must enter an alcohol and drug education program.

Police said Maualuga hit a parking meter and two parked cars in northern Kentucky, just south of Cincinnati, early Friday morning while driving a 2003 Pontiac.

Maualuga apologized in a statement “for letting everyone down and making a terrible decision to drive under the influence. I wanted to acknowledge fault quickly and accept the consequences for my actions, which are the same that anyone else facing these charges would receive.”
