The Chargers’ all-time leading rusher is greasing the wheels for his exit from San Diego.

LaDainian Tomlinson told The San Diego Union-Tribune on Thursday that he expects the club to release him, likely before a $2 million roster bonus due on March 5.

“I’ve accepted it,” he said. “I’m not coming back.”

The 2006 MVP restructured his contract prior to the 2009 season and took a pay cut but Tomlinson told a San Diego radio station Monday that he wasn’t prepared to do that again despite coming off the least-productive season of his 9-year career (730 yards on 223 carries).

Tomlinson is the eighth-leading rusher of all time with 12,490 yards.
