Without an actual competition, the promising Packers TE has moved into the starting lineup.

Jermichael Finley, who backed up Donald Lee only on depth chart lists, is now firmly entrenched as Green Bay’s No. 1 TE, coach Mike McCarthy said on Sunday.

The move comes as no surprise as Finley, who’s brimming with promise, outperformed Lee last season. In his sophomore NFL season, Finley caught 55 passes for 676 yards and 5 TDs while Lee caught 37 for 260 yards and 1 TD.

“(Finley) played very well. What’s exciting about him, he gets better every week,” said McCarthy.

With more snaps available, expect the explosive Finley to move into the scalding hot territory of TE most likely to breakout in fantasy football. He should be among the first 5 TEs to go in any draft.
