The Ravens will likely start the season without their ballhawking safety.

Ed Reed, who had offseason hip surgery after pondering retirement, says he feels about 35 per cent right now and that the rehab from his injury is a long, 4-to-6 month process.

“I want to be ready for the first game, but I don’t know how soon that would happen, how soon I would be back,” Reed said.

The Ravens signed ex-Cowboy and Seahawk Ken Hamlin this week as veteran insurance in case Hamlin isn’t ready to start the season.
