The suspended Browns WR will be reinstated following the Super Bowl.
Commissioner Roger Goodell said Donté Stallworth’s suspension for violating the league’s personal conduct and substance abuse policies will be lifted on Sunday.
Having recently met with Stallworth, Goodell said the receiver is “in a better place than he was.”
Stallworth was suspended for the 2009 season after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter in Florida in connection with a crash in which he struck and killed construction worker Mario Reyes. Stallworth spent 24 days in jail and settled out of court with Reyes’ family.
Stallworth signed a 7-year, $35 million contract with the Browns in 2008. He earned a $4.5 million roster bonus the night before the crash. The suspension cost him the remaining $745,000 on his contract for 2009.
