The Titans likely won’t see their 2,000-yard man for a while.
Mercurial RB Chris Johnson was a no show for the first practice of the offseason on Tuesday and is unlikely to show up until training camp.
Johnson is unhappy with his current 5-year, $12-million ($7 million guranteed) contract that he signed as a rookie in 2008 and has told The Tennessean that he would like to become the top-paid offensive player in the league.
Last year, when he ran for 2,006 yards, he earned $385,000 in base salary and is scheduled to earn $560,000 this season.
Also missing from practice on Tuesday were TE Bo Scaife and LB Stephen Tulloch.
The team has another practice scheduled for later this week as well as more “organized team activities” in May and June. Should Johnson skip these as well, he could be fined as much $10,000 for each group of sessions missed.
