The Daily Mark Sanchez to Canton Watch: Master Peyton
Perhaps Mark Sanchez will look at Sunday’s game as a glimpse into the future. Maybe he’ll see Peyton Manning and think that the current best player in football had one brutal first year in the NFL. That was in 1998 and Manning threw 28 interceptions – eight more than Sanchez will enter the game with.
Of course, Manning was also on a crap team that wasn’t expected to do anything. Sanchez entered the season with a team whose coach declared them ready to win now. Hasn’t quite worked out that way. The Jets (7-7) need to spoil the Colts’ quest for a perfect season and have a ton of help from around the league in order to keep their playoff hopes alive.
It’s not likely to happen. The most likely scenario is Sanchez gets victimized early by the Indy pass rush, throws a couple of picks and Manning takes advantage, most likely converting to Dallas Clark.
Hopefully for Sanchez’s sake, he at least picks up some pointers from the master.
*The DMSTCW forecasts Mark Sanchez will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2030 after an 18-year career during which he will accumulate: 111,186 passing yards (he was born on November 11, 1986); 6 Super Bowl championships (to go along with his uniform number); $1 billion in endorsements (including several deals involving teeth-whitening products); 11,550 panties (same numbers as the zip code of the Jets’ headquarters in Hempstead, New York, which incidentally, will be renamed Sanchezstead upon his retirement); enough pats on the behind from Fireman Ed to make him feel uncomfortable; and 1 kiss from Suzy Kolber (willingly given).
